  • How do I become an official?
    • Adult Officials – Individuals over 18 years old may visit the Adult Officials Training Pagefor more information about the process of becoming a GLOA High School official.
    • Youth Officials – Individuals younger than 18 years old may visit the Youth Officials Training Page for more information about becoming a youth official.
  • How do I file a Game Report?
    • If you are a GLOA official you are sometimes required to file a game report in the event of an unusual situation during a sanctioned game. Go to the Game Report Page and fill out the form. You should include as much detail as possible about the situation
  • How do I request officials?
    • Visit our Request Officials Pageand fill out the form. You will be contacted by a GLOA staff member within 48 hours regarding your request.
    • A minimum of 30 days notice is required to ensure that the GLOA can field the necessary number of officials.
  • What are the GLOA Forums?
    • The GLOA Forumswere created to provide all officials with a place to ask questions and get advice from the more experienced members of the GLOA.
    • Anyone may read the posts that are on the forums but if you want to ask your own questions you must Register and create a profile. Then you may post as often as you like.
  • What are the goals of the GLOA?
    • To provide game officials for the sport of men’s lacrosse, primarily at the high school level, in the State of Georgia
    • To instruct and educate players, coaches, parents, and fans of the sport of lacrosse and the rules governing play
    • To train, educate, and certify persons for officiating the sport of men’s lacrosse
    • To promote the growth and development of the sport of lacrosse in the State of Georgia
  • What are the Ron Mallonee and Kevin Moore Funds?
    • Ron Mallonee Fund- The fund will be directed to assist players who best exemplify Ron’s selfless attitude towards the game of lacrosse. Since the Ron Mallonee Fund’s inception in 2005, GLOA has been able to provide scholarships to over forty deserving boys from the state of Georgia to attend lacrosse camp or play in out of state lacrosse events.
    • Kevin Moore Fund – GLOA has been able to support Georgia lacrosse referees attending lacrosse camps and tournaments around the United States (Colorado, North Carolina, Massachusetts) and the World (Finland, England).
    • Ron and Kevin were tremendous officials and incredible individuals. Their impact on lacrosse officials in Georgia continues with these funds.

  • What is the required uniform for sanctioned games?
    • Visit the Uniforms and Equipment Pagefor a complete overview of the required and optional pieces of officiating clothing and equipment.
    • You may or may not need the optional equipment but it is mandatory to purchase the required pieces of equipment and clothing as all officials working a game must wear the same uniform.
  • What kind of games do GLOA refs officiate?
    • GLOA members officiate both Georgia High School Association (GHSA)contests, which include Junior Varsity and Varsity games. Members also officiate Middle School and boys youth lacrosse games in Georgia.
    • GLOA Members are independent contractors.
