Date: March 11, 2011
Two additional items have come to our attention with regard to the 2011 NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rules Book and exam.
Situation and Ruling 1.10.1 on page 17 was not updated to reflect the revision in rule 1-10-1b. The revised wording for that situation and ruling follows:
1.10.1 SITUATION: Prior to the game, the Team B coach requests the referee to examine a cast/splint on the forearm of one of his players. The protective item has “hard” material, but is covered with at least ½-inch thick, closed-cell, slow-recovery foam padding. The coach: (a) provides; or (b) does not provide, written authorization from an appropriate health-care professional directing the use of the cast/splint as necessary to protect an injury. RULING: In both (a) and (b), the cast/splint may be worn during the game. A letter from an appropriate health-care professional is not required.
2. Question number 19 on the 2011 NFHS Boys Lacrosse Rules Exam incorrectly lists the answer as A, true. The correct answer is actually B, false. The question with the correct answer follows:
19. A player who accumulates five fouls of any kind is disqualified from the game.
Answer: False
Rule Reference:
Page 54, Rule 5 Section 10 Fouling Out
Any player who accumulates five personal fouls, regardless of the penalty time accrued, shall be disqualified from the game.
We apologize for the errors.
