We are saddened to announce that GLOA member D. Maurice Turner passed away on October 21, 2020 at 2:00 pm after suffering a stroke. He was a beloved husband to Daria and father to Sydnei (24) and Zach (16).
Maurice was well known baseball community. He worked as an SEC umpire and travel tournaments around the country as well as training most of the umpires in the Atlanta area. He also worked football with the Georgia Football Officials Association as an Umpire.
A Go Fund Me has been set up to cover cover basic living needs, medical bills and Zach’s education. The family would sincerely appreciate any financial support you can offer as they deal with this sudden and unexpected loss.
We have learned of the preliminary arrangements for D. Turner. A viewing will be Tuesday and Wednesday October 27 and 28 at Herschel Thornton Mortuary 3346 MLK Jr Drive, Atlanta 30331.
The service will be this Thursday October 29 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Grave Site.
